Career Classes for Credit

Develop your Career and earn a College Credit !

There are three 1 credit, online, web-based courses in career development available to students at Kent State University at Columbiana. Following are descriptions for these courses:

EXPR 10295, "Professionalism in the Workplace," is a one-credit, completely online, web-based course, designed for students who are interested in preparing themselves to enter the workplace and perform in an ethical and professional manner. The course is completely online.

EXPR 20295, "Career Exploration," is a one-credit, completely online, web-based course designed for students who are unsure of their college major. The course focuses on self-discovery, exploring students' interests, skills, values, and personality traits. Goals include "matching" these interests, personality, etc. to various job titles or job clusters. In this way, students can re-affirm or decide on a major that "fits" their personal goals and unique personality. The course is completely online.

EXPR 20295, "Résumé and Interviewing Skills," is a one-credit, completely online, web-based course designed for students who are preparing to enter the job market. The course focuses on interviewing skills, job interviewing skills, job exploration, and writing résumés and cover letters. Goals include producing a professional résumé for the job search. The course is completely online.

Students who take these courses should be self-directed, comfortable with computer based learning, responsible and organized, and able to learn on their own.
