Teresa Santilli, MSN, CCRN and Andrea Dickinson Corbisello, MSN, RN are both Kent State University at Salem’s newest nursing faculty members. The two hires increase the campus’ strong nursing faculty, which spearheads its competitive and robust nursing program.

Santilli, who completed her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University this month, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The Pennsylvania State University, State College, Pa. In her new position she will teach both medical and surgical nursing courses. Santilli’s work experience included being a clinical coordinator with Fortis College School of Nursing in Cuyahoga Falls where she was responsible for securing and facilitating all clinical sites when students performed their clinical rotations. In this role she also mentored new clinical staff and collaborated with directors of nursing, unit managers, and education organization directors to ensure positive work relations between faculty and staff. As a faculty member, she instructed various clinical and didactic classes. Santilli was also an agency nurse at ATC Healthcare, Inc. in Independence, Ohio. In this position she cared for the acutely ill and is well versed in critical care technicalities.

Prior to these positions, Santilli acted as both a research coordinator and an inpatient care coordinator at Pulmonary Rehabilitation Associates in Boardman, Ohio. She was also a staff nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio after receiving her Diploma of Nursing.

In addition to teaching nursing, Teresa is a Silver level Figure Skating coach and competitor with the Skating Club of Greater Youngstown.

Corbisello, who prior to her new post was an adjunct faculty member with Kent State Salem’s Nursing Department, will now act as an assistant professor of nursing. In her new role, Corbisello will assist and monitor students at their clinical sites as a lab coordinator. She will also perform clinical laboratory instruction and be responsible to maintaining relationships with all clinical sites where students perform their clinical rotations.

Before working for Kent State Salem, Corbisello was an educational coordinator for the emergency department for Akron Children’s Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. In this roll she coordinated orientation of new staff, provided educational in-services and created and updated policies for the institution. Corbisello also provided patient care and education and was an advocate between physicians and families providing emotional and bereavement support as needed.

Prior to this post, Corbisello worked as a staff registered nurse for the emergency department of the Salem Community Hospital. In this position she managed care for emergency department patients, coordinated hospital transfers and life flights and was responsible for identifying and reporting abuse. Corbisello also worked as a staff nursing in various positions at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Furthermore, she worked as a staff nurse a Trinity Healthcare Centers in Steubenville, Ohio, after earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kent State University. Corbisello earned her Master's of Science in Nursing from Franciscan University of Steubenville last year.
