Community Wide Talk on Domestic Violence and Abuse Awareness
Posted Apr. 10, 2012
he National Society of Leadership and Success, in partnership with The Christina House, a domestic abuse shelter for women and children, is hosting a community wide talk on domestic violence and abuse awareness. The free is event is Thursday at 5 p.m. in Kent State University’s at Salem’s lecture hall, room 134. Guest speakers will be Nickie Ostick from The Christina House, and Kent State Salem student Donna Beery, a survivor of domestic abuse.
If you have ever been a victim of domestic abuse, or if you have ever known someone that has suffered at the hands of their partner, you don’t want to miss this program,” said Danielle Stewart, president of The National Society of Leadership and Success. “We hope this program will empower and inform our students.”
When a woman and her children flee to the safety of The Christina House, oftentimes they have nothing but the clothing on their backs. Students from the society will accept donations of gently worn clothing to aid these families in need. In addition, a tax deductible donation may be made. Checks may be written to: The Christina House.
