Fun in the Sun: TeleProductions Attends “Touch a Truck” in Tallmadge

Laughter and truck horns rang loud as kids posed in front of the TeleProductions camera and explored inside its production truck on a sunny June day. For the second year in a row, TeleProductions’ high-tech satellite and uplink production truck stood out among 25 big rigs parked in the Tallmadge Recreation Center parking lot.

“I was so excited when TeleProductions contacted me,” said Renee Kaufman, Tallmadge Recreation Activities Director. “It was a huge hit last year; there’s just so much to see.”

The crew struck a camera and a 40-inch monitor so the kids could enjoy their TV debut. They also opened the door to the production truck, where kids could view the many monitors and play with the endless buttons that line the counters.

“The kids get a kick out of being behind and in front of the camera; it reminds us that television is a fun industry to work in,” Warzinski said. “They don’t have many opportunities to interact with this kind of equipment and kids love to push buttons.”

Warzinski and the crew were all smiles as aspiring newscasters took center stage – jumping, smiling and even singing songs on camera. They tugged on their parent’s clothes and pointed with excitement to the big monitor, displaying them in high definition.

The kids then became videographers as they took hold of the big camera themselves, and technical directors as they took a seat behind the switcher.

“I think it’s just fun, personally, to see the kids get so excited and that makes me excited,” Warzinski smiled.

Not only was this a fun event for the kids, it was also a way for TeleProductions and the university to outreach to the community. With parents and Kent State University alumni all in one place, the production company spread the word about all the great projects its involved with.

“‘Touch a Truck” lets people know all the good that’s going on at Kent State. It also shows off the high-tech investment of the truck that we made to provide services to Kent State and our community,” Warzinski concluded.
