Moving Youth 2 Youth Field Trip - Wednesday, November 9Posted Nov. 4, 2011
Kent State Students are invited to join Dr. Lydia Rose's Sociology group, Moving Youth2Youth on a field trip on Wednesday, November 9 to visit the Kent campus for the Annual KSU Oxfam-Social Issues Banquet. Students will also have the opportunity to tour the May 4th Commemorative walkway. The day will be filled with several exciting and interesting events. The group will meet at the East Liverpool Campus at 10:30 am and will arrive back to the campus around 6 pm. If you are interested or have further questions please contact Dr. Rose at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 562-291-8998.
Guests of the Oxfam-Social Issues Banquet can expect to partake in:
- A Hunger simulation whereby they will receive a meal ticket representing a socio-economic class which will essentially determine the type of meal served. Reflective discussions will leave guests with a new perspective and understanding of the challenges created daily by world hunger.
- An engaging panel discussion made up of faculty, business, and community organizations. The panel discussion will serve to highlight the multitude of ways that faculty, business and organizations are reaching out to support local communities. In addition, the discussion will serve as a platform to explore experiential learning opportunities. Faculty teaching Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Hospitality Management, Pan African Studies, Public Health, Nutrition, Conflict Management, as well as Engineering and Construction Technology should find the program relevant to course objectives.
