The Radiology and Imaging Sciences Department is currently celebrating National Radiologic Technology Week (NRTW). The annual celebration promotes the important role medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals play in providing quality patient care and a safe health care environment. The week-long celebration calls attention to the valuable work of radiologic technologists in the health care field and the highly technical images that they make. The images play an integral role in the medical process and in the lives of millions of patients. Each image tells a story. 

The Radiologic Technology program at Kent State University Salem Campus will be commemorating NRTW with the following events:

Radiologic Technology Advisory Board will have a meeting Friday to review and discuss program information and news.
First year radiologic technology students will display posters in the radiology department at the clinical sites associated with the program.  This year’s theme is “Fractures.”

Second year radiologic technology students will display posters at the campus on new and emerging technologies found in medical imaging.

In addition, all students will compete with each other in an academic quiz bowl competition which tests their knowledge of radiologic technology.

The first National Radiologic Technology Week was July 22-29, 1979. The celebration was moved to November to recognize the date Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered the x-ray, Nov. 8, 1895.

Kent State University Salem Campus houses the following radiology programs: - Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology.  Since the program began in 1986, more 500 students have graduated from the program.- Bachelor's of Radiologic and Imaging Sciences Technology degree with concentrations in Computed Tomography, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Therapy. This degree program, which began in 2002, has graduated more than 100 students.
