Posted Apr. 15, 2014

Holocaust Remembrance Day 2014Kent State University at East Liverpool invites community members to join in a discussion of the Holocaust to coincide with the national Holocaust Remembrance Day. The discussion will be Tuesday, April 22, at noon in
the Quiet Study Lounge on the second floor of the main classroom building, located at 400 E. Fourth St.

The speaker for this year’s Holocaust Remembrance Day is Mark Weber. Weber’s presentation, “Remembering the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising,” discusses the ugly truths surrounding the Holocaust.

Event planner Deborah Woods is instrumental in the success of Holocaust Remembrance Day and feels it is important to study the Holocaust to promote tolerance.  “Prejudice and intolerance are still very common in our world, and genocide still occurs,” she said. “Studying the Holocaust helps people to understand the terrible consequences of hatred.”
