More than 75 kids attended a variety of classes in this summer's College for Kids, which was put on through the office of workforce development and continuing studies at Kent State East Liverpool and Salem.

“The kids really seemed to enjoy themselves,” Director Diane Kloss said. “We had eight classes, which focused cooking, acting, math and science. This is all part of our office's community outreach, and we're very thankful that the community supported us, too. Both the East Liverpool and Salem Rotary Clubs made a donation to help our students attend, as did the East Liverpool Lion's Club.”

Kloss said in addition to community outreach, which includes classes such as Bridges out of Poverty, her office focuses on business development, human resource support and customized training. The office also provides training for individuals who are looking to improve their skills in a variety of areas including quality, leadership, computers and small business. The office also offers State Tested Nurse Aide Training. For those interested in personal enrichment, individuals can choose from more than 200 on-line classes. This includes classes in digital photography, assisting the aging parent and Spanish, among others. On-line classes focusing in professional development include accounting fundamentals, computers for the workplace and project management. New classes start monthly and can be accessed 24/7 via the web.
