First Annual Northern Ohio Insurance Education Summit HeldPosted Aug. 3, 2010
The Office of Insurance and Financial Development (OIFD) is co-sponsoring an Insurance Education Summit with Kent State University at Salem Wednesday, August 18 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The event will be conveniently located near I-77 at the Kent State University at Stark University Center.
This Education Summit will allow leaders in the insurance industry and academia to gather and examine the current insurance education and workforce environment, to help develop innovative ways to retain and develop insurance industry talent, and promote employment opportunities in Ohio’s insurance industry. These issues are critical to the success of the insurance industry in the state today, and will help to cultivate the best insurance workforce for tomorrow.
Insurance is a $13 billion industry in the State of Ohio. In 2007, 126,761 individuals were employed in insurance-related positions, accounting for $7.5 billion in compensation. Those working in the industry are employed in numerous areas including: law, information technology, medical, marketing and advertising, technical writing, claims adjusting, accounting and more.
