Geauga Campus will Host Music Festival with the Cleveland Pops OrchestraPosted Mar. 29, 2014
In celebration of Kent State University at Geauga's 50-year anniversary, the campus is planning a festival of music on Saturday, July 19, showcasing talented Geauga County musicians with a special performance by the acclaimed Cleveland Pops Orchestra with Carl Topilow, conductor. The event will be free and open to the public.
As part of this effort, Kent State Geauga collaborated with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra to incorporate greater community engagement. Area high school students that play an instrument are invited to submit a video audition playing a selection of musical scales along with a song of their choice. Video auditions will be accepted through Friday, April 18, at 5 p.m.
"This is an exceptional opportunity for students to play with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra for a special evening of musical enjoyment for Geauga County," said David Mohan, dean and chief administrative officer of Kent State Geauga. "The campus is proud to host this event and to extend this invitation to high school students for this one-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
"This will be an event like no other in the county," Mohan continued. "it's a musical celebration meant to connect the community to the campus while showcasing vibrant area talent."
