S.T.A.R. Program
S stands for Student, that's you! How do you become a student at Kent State University at East Liverpool or Kent State University at Salem? All it takes is an application to the campus. Once you have applied to Kent State University at East Liverpool or Salem, you will receive information about upcoming dates for the S.T.A.R. program.
T stands for Testing. Your educational connection begins with an assessment of your basic skills. COMPASS, a self-paced computer assessment of basic skills, measures how well you understand what you read, how well you use the English language, and how well you use mathematics. All Kent State University students take the Basic COMPASS Assessment.
A stands for Advising. All students will have an academic advisor. After you have completed the COMPASS assessment you will sit down with an advisor and review your COMPASS results and discuss academic requirements.
R stands for Registration. During your advising session you will be registered for classes, receive financial aid information, and receive your KSU FLASHcard (student ID card).
