PTST Program Selection Process

All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are considered for a seat to begin classes in the fall. The limited number of seats are offered to students with the highest total points from the following criteria. All applicants are notified of acceptance or denial by June 1st.

  1. Grade Point Average: Maximum of forty (40) points for 4.0 cumulative GPA from most recent academic experience of 12 credit hours or more. Minimally qualified applicant with 2.7 GPA earns one (1) point.
  2. College Courses Taken: Maximum of fifty-five (55) points for completion of any open enrollment courses on the 2013-14 Roadmap. Five (5) points for each A, three (3) points for each B, and one (1) point for each C.
  3. Course Bonus: Maximum of ten (10) point, two (2) points each for recommended (not required) course completion prior to admission. Two (2) points each for BSCI 10001, BSCI 11010, BSCI 11020, MATH 11009 or higher, PHY 12111, PHY 13001, PHY 13002.
  4. Observation Recommendation: Maximum of 20 points on a scale from “Highly Recommended” to “Not Recommended”. Note, any student banned from a clinic site is not eligible for admission to the PTA Program.
  5. Essay:   Graded for a maximum of 25 points
